A> General Requirements

Everyone working for MISOA this fall must complete all items listed below.

  • All refs must be 15+ years of age to work MISOA games and will mostly work as an Assistant Referee in games that do not involve the school they attend.

1. Register with OSAA (includes background check) The cost to register is appx. $67 and includes a badge, rulebook, insurance and NFHS/OAOA membership Your packet (including rulebook, badge, etc) will be sent to the address you use to register. Be sure it is correct!!  http://osaa.arbitersports.com/ 
2. Pass the NFHS Online Test The test will be available on the OSAA/Arbiter website for REGISTERED officials. It will be available in both in English and Spanish.  http://osaa.arbitersports.com/front/105752/test 
3. Complete the ANNUAL OSAA concussion training. The training is available on the OSAA website after you are registered for the current season. Instructions to find OSAA Concussion Training 
4. Attend ONE MISOA Field Training Session This is our ONE MANDATORY clinic and will be offered several dates & times in June, July & August. Summer 2021 will not be doing the 12 minute run or doing the drills that we have in past years. Instead we will discuss getting back into shape & what that looks like. Setting individual goals and learning about stretching & setting up routines to help us all get ready for games this fall. We will also have breakout sessions that will cover: Working in the Dual System, Working as a SOLO ref, NFHS::FIFA Comparison, New NFHS Rules & Working High School Games.  
5. Review OSAA PreSeason Soccer Presentation (when updated for fall 2021) Online presentation covering OSAA policies for officials, Rule Changes, Points of Emphasis. Must complete before season begins. Short quiz at end, certificate provided. We expect this presentation to be updated for fall 2021 sometime in early August. PENDING - NOT YET UPDATED FOR FALL 2021 
6. Complete an additional TWO credits of training. OSAA requires all refs to complete sport specific training hours ANNUALLY. Click the link to see what counts. B> What counts for your TWO Continuing Ed credits?
